PUAVARANUKROH and TAERATTANACHAI in control

Dechapol PUAVARANUKROH and Sapsiree TAERATTANACHAI (n°6, Thailand) won their ticket for the round of 16 on Thursday. They easily managed to defeat Mathias CHRISTIENSEN and Alexandra BOJE (n°10, Denmark) in a 2 set match.

Mid-court game won by the Thais …

A clash of two pairs among the Top 10 as a last match on Court 4 today in Paris. Dechapol PUAVARANUKROH and Sapsiree TAERATTANACHAI are challenged by Mathias CHRISTIENSEN and Alexandra BOJE. The head-to-head shows that the two teams are quite close as the Thai are leading 3/2 in the previous confrontations. If one take a closer look to the 2024 results, one can notice that the 2021 world champions already earned two titles : the Thailand Masters and the India Open.

More aggressive than the Danes in their shots, the Thais take the lead on the scoreboard. Leading 11/9 at the interval. Keeping up their good work and being more efficient in the mid-court game area, the former world number 1 easily manage to increase their lead up to 21/14.

… just like the attack/defense game

The second game starts and the Danes look like they change tactics and play softer shots so that the Thais lift in order to gain the attack. It indeed gives them the attack. But the 2024 India Open winners defend so well that it does not make any difference. Thus, PUAVARANUKROH/ TAERATTANACHAI are ahead of 3 points at the interval : 11/8. Even though the Danes seem a bit annoyed by some decision taken by the back-line judge, it has not taken away their fighting spirit as they are only 2 or 3 points away from their opponents. But the Thais are the strongest today in every areas, therefore, they conclude with several points in a row : 21/14.

Sapsiree TAERATTANACHAI : “we tried to attack them a lot to win. (…) But in the second game we said to each other let’s defend first in order to attack them back“. Some insights about this summer, as she admits that they hope they can be gold medalist”.
