A taste of revenge for LEE ZI Jia

For a back-to-back opposition between LEE Zi Jia (Malaysia, n°11) and WENG Hong Yang (China, n°19), the Malaysian managed to go against the odds and win the rematch against the Demark Open winner (21/15 21/11).

Denmark open final of last Sunday turned into a first-round match between LEE and WENG. After having scored only eighteen points overall 3 days ago, the Malaysian is having better start, determined not to let this one go. Leading 11-8 at the break, he manages to stay focus and wins the first set 21/15. Less bothered by the left-handed style of WENG, he seems to have found the keys to finish the job earlier than anticipated.

Second set is tighter but once again LEE ends up in front at the break (11/7). Looking calm and confident, he is controlling most of the points and the Chinese is too often caught short. WENG fell off the Denmark cloud and is not finding any solutions to come back in the game. World number 11 finishes the job without breaking a sweat and takes his revenge from last Sunday (21/11).

The Malaysian reacted about his victory: “I’m entering my 5th consecutive week of tournament; everyone is mentally tired so I just go on the court and try to enjoy myself. It is my 4th time entering the French open and my 1st time going to the second round so I just look at the positive aspects. Hopefully I can go as far as I expect and keep on myself going and going.”

Second round won’t be easy for LEE Zi Jia as he will have to face world’s n°4 SHI Yu Qi (China).
