WS – Day 2 : Top players ready to amaze you

France, Japan, South Korea, India, Indonisia, Denmark, Malasia, you name it ...we may have already experienced the sensation of the first day’s matches, but compared to what we can expect today, nothing but more surprises for the fans..

Akane YAMAGUCHI (JPN) vs Kim GAEUN (KOR)

First woman single battle has already set the level pretty high. World Number 5 from Japan has just won her Denmark Open, her steps did, however, not slow down  after several intense weeks of matches. Her opponent, KIM (N°18) was also determined to stay longer in this year’s French Open. 21/19 in favor of YAMAGUCHI. The first set was not easy for these two young players. 21/19 at the end, exactly the same score, YAMAGUCHI saw herself through next round.

An SEYOUNG (KOR) vs Léonice HUET (FRA)

Home player HUET had her first match against the youngest world top 10 player AN from South Korea.  This must be a very tough choice : home fans certainly root for the French local player, but AN’s popularity also helped her gain more confidence here in the stadium Pierre de Coubertin.  The korean finished her first set 21/10 quite  easy. Longer rallies for the 2nd set, but the 21-year-old French player  had to leave the stage for this time.

Pusarla V. SINDHU (IND) vs Julie DAWALL JAKOBSEN (DEN)

The Olympic bronze medalist SINDHU made her entrance today at this year’s French Open.

Ratchanok INTANON (THA) vs Marie BATOMENE (FRA)

INTANON may not have finished her match in Denmark, but today, being challenged by home player BATOMENE, she would  definitely not give her ticket away.

In other matches, seeded number 8 Busanan ONGBAMRUNGPHAN (THA) ended the journey of her opponent 21/9 21/14 Kristin KUUBA (EST);  Scottish top player Kirsty GILMOUR won the game 21/14 13/21 21/14  against Iris WANG (USA).  Next, Line CHRISTOPHERSEN (DEN) took out her rival Jordan HART (POL) 21/18 and 21/16. This match was followed by another one between Sayaka TAKAHASHI (JPN) Saina NEHWAL (IND). The Indian former Number one still suffered from her injury. 21/11 for the first set, and 9/2 before she had to forfeit the match. Japanese Aya Ohori (JPN) / Yaelle Hoyaux (FRA).
