First battle between the Russian E.Kosetskaya( N°23) and the Thai S.Katethong( N°32)
With the previous performance score 1:1 between the two players, both are eager to prevail in the head-to-head . For the first game, the Russian holds a steady lead of 3-4 points against her opponant. A lucky shot helped the Thai save a game point at 20:14, but the Russian refused to give a second chance to her opponent : 21/16, 21/15, the Russian is annonced safe and sound to her next round.

Seeded number 5 for this year’s French Open, the 23-year-old Thai player did not seems to give her ticket away 21/12 for the first set. The Bulgarian player amazed the audience with some nice shots but there’s no doubt the world number 10 wanted her victory bad. Danish L.Kjaersfeldt (N°33) had the last laugh in the game with B.Corrales from Spain(N°68)
One of the toughest matches of this first day was offered by the two young players from Denmark and Spain. The match was quite tense in terms of play and scoring. 22/20 22/20 and 21/19. Kjaersfeldt lost the first set, but her strong mind lent her a hand to take the other two and to finally win the game. «I tried my best to stay focused in my game, that’s how I won the match».said Djaersfeldt after the match.
German Y.Li (N°25) beat Thai P.Chaiwan (N°28) for the first round
First head-to-head on international stage, with only 3 vacancies between their world ranking (N°25 vs N°28) , the audience would have expected a long match. The first set between the German and the Thai was surprisingly quick with a score of 21/8 in favor of the Thai young player. However, the second game obviously got the audience’s blood pumping. Li held a strong mind to stay on court and she won the next two games with the scores 21/18 and 21/15.

First time between the two female single players. The Belgian, L.Tan(N°38) , sadly had to say goodbye to her French Open trip of this year. Her opponent, Yeo Jia Min from Singapore, earned her pass to the next around with the scores 21/16 21/9.
Mia VS Gregoria Mariska Tunjung
One of the world’s top 15 players Mia Blichfeldt was certainly disappointed today with a defeat towards her long time opponent, the Indonisian Tunjung. Previously, Tunjung held the lead (2-1) against Blichfeldt. This time, she managed to add one more victory to her 2021’s achievements. 21/13 21/12. The world 12 badminton player from Denmark was not ready to continue her journey in this year’s French Open.
