XD – SF : Jordan/Oktavianti will face the great Wall of China
The Adcocks stopped in semi-finals by a solid Indonesian pair
Chris and Gabrielle Adcock failed to create winning momentum in the semi-final stage of the French Open. Although they took a 19-15 lead in the opening game, Indonesia’s Jordan/Oktavianti made a remarkable comeback to win the first game. They then wrapped-up the match in 2 straight games in 35 minutes 21-19 21-12.
No final spot but chapeau to the Adcocks !
Praveen Jordan and Melati Daeva Oktavianti - recent Danish Open winners advanced to the final stage 2 times within 2 weeks. They will face a much bigger challenge, Zheng Si Wei and Huang Ya Qiong.
Who can break China’s Zheng/Huang supremacy ?
The massive lead of the Chinese pair’s head-to-head record 6-1 was not good smoke signals before the match. Back in August Zheng/Huang dominated Watanabe/Higashino in winning 21-11 21-15 in the semi-final stage of the Worlds in Basel.
In Paris, Yuta Watanabe qualified in the mixed double and men’s doubles draw. It just doubled the toil with 2 matches per day.
The Japanese closed a 4-point gap two times in the deciding game but the third time, the Chinese just triumphed to process to an additional HSBC BWF World Tour final stage this year. 21-12 12-21 21-16.
