MS - QF : Momota out !

Upset of the day: Kento Momota, unbeaten ever since, has been defeated by Antony Ginting for a spot in semifinals.

MOMOTA OUT!

After 2 exhausting round matches, Kento Momota was not at his best physically. He met the Indonesian Antony Ginting for a spot in semifinals. The Japanese showed some obvious tiredness on court. Indeed, he was 12 points down in the first game. Despite an amazing footwork and a perfect technique, Kento Momota was not able to do much. He had to concede defeat to his opponent, Antony GINTING, 21-10, 21-19. « I feel very happy today. I played really well » He stated after his match. He’s among the last four of the French Open Super 750. 

TITLE HOLDER INTO SEMIFINALS

Easy draw for CHEN Long who defeated the Indonesian Shesar Hiren RHUSTAVITO, world ranked n°24 in straight games, 21-19 21-12. He will face the man who beat Kento MOMOTA, the Indonesian, Antony Ginting.

INDONESIAN POWER

Silver medalist at the previous World Championship in Basel, Anders Antonsen has shown quite some strong performances the last couple of months. Today he suffered a tough match. He had to concede defeat to his opponent Jonatan CHRISTIE after a 3 games match. They offered the crowd an amazing battle that lasted almost an hour and half. « I’m very happy with my performance today, and I’m looking forward to coming back on court tomorrow », stated the Indonesian. The Dane empathized his frustration knowing he missed a huge opportunity to conclude in straight games. However, he gave credits to his opponent and thanked the crowd for its support. Final score: 17-21, 21-19, 21-16. 

THE LAST EUROPEAN : AXELSEN

After the loss of his peer Anders Antonsen, the other Dane, Viktor made his entrance on the same court. The 2017 world champion managed to get through the quarterfinals after prevailing over NG Ka Long ANGUS in straight games 21-17, 21- 16. He will face Jonatan CHRISTIE for a spot in finals.
