WS - Day 3 : Carolina MARIN is back
REVENGE FOR THE GOLD MEDALIST
Huge match today at Stade Pierre de Coubertin. The former world n°1, Carolina Marin, who came back from knee injury met her long time friend and rival Nozomi OKUHARA. They actually met very recently, last week at Danisa Denmark Open and this time the Japanese prevailed, forcing Carolina Marin to stop her tournament in semifinals. Today, she got her revenge in straight games (21-18, 21-17) The Spanish seemed great on court, always with the same fighting spirit. It worked and she’s now into the French Open quarterfinals.
FORCED TO WITHDRAW
2nd round for AN Se Young and CHEN Xiao Xin. Both players won their opening round match quite easily. Today, the Chinese seemed better on court than her opponent. The seventeen year old Korean was most of the time in bad position where she could only defense and not attack or anything else. CHEN Xiao Xin was leading almost the entire first game, despite some mistakes on the baseline. She kept a gap of 5 points until scoring the 1st set, 21-15, with a net point. The following game, the Korean tried to take things under control. She scored 5 consecutive points and led 11-4 at the break. At 15-6, the Chinese fell on the ground after her foot ripped. After a medical time-out, she tried to continue but in the end she was forced to stopped, giving her opponent her ticket to the quarterfinals. Final score: 15-21 16-7.
