WD – Day 3 : Stoeva sisters showed up once again in QF
Troubled and untroubled Japanese pairs...
The World Champions Japan’s Fukushima/Hirota trashed the Chinese pair Dong/Feng, world ranked 22, in 2 straight games 21-12 21-14. With a solid defense and strong back court game, the Japanese were just impossible to overcome.
“Our opponents are on top level and higher level than us. There is a big gap between both of us. We tried our best to play a bit longer with them” - said Feng Xue Ying after the match.
As for the French Open 2018 Edition winners Matsumoto/Nagahara, world ranked number 1, they overcame the French pair Tran/Lefel in 2 straight games 21-17 21-9.
On the opposite, Matsumoto/Takahashi - third seeded pair here in Paris – unfortunately faced the solid Stoeva sisters. The battle lasted 1 hour and 48 minutes. Long and exhausting rallies wore out the Japanese’s energy and confidence. The Bulgarian managed the deciding game’s money time and joined the last 8 pairs.
Korean pairs...
