MD - The 2018 French open champions made their entrance

First day of competition here in Paris ! The Men’s doubles draw is usually the most impressive and the fastest at the same time for the crowd. Even at early stage, we can witness quite some amazing points. Among others, the 2018 French Open champions made their entrance today in Paris.

No time to waste for these top players

The Korean pair, LLEE/KIM won its spot into the next round after defeated a pair from Chinese Taipei (LU/YANG), in 36mn, 21-9 21-17. Despite their rankings, the Korean pair has won both of their previous meetings, even though they are actually further in the ranking.

Same scenario for this pair from Chinese Taipei LIAO/SU who had recorded the fastest match of the day: 26min! They won against the Americans CHEW/CHEW in straight games, 21-11 21-13.

The Indonesians PANGKARYANIRA/SANTOSO also won their match quite easily and in straight game 21-13 21-14 against the Thai ISARA/JONGJIT.

The new partnership from Denmark made a good start in Paris. Mathias BOE and Mads CONRAD-PETERSEN defeated the Indonesians in straight games 21-12 21-16, who are world n°5. They met twice already and it was recently at the Yonex Chinese Taipei Open and they also won. ALFIAN/ARDIANTO is actually a tough pair as they made quite some results in previous tournaments such as finals at Korea Open and semifinals at China Open. This time, the experienced won over the young generations.

Tough first round

The Japanese players KAMURA/SONODA met a pair they know pretty well. They played against the Malaysians GOH/TAN 14 times already. The Japanese have the advantage on this one as they won most of these meetings (11 times). After 53mn of match and the loss of the first game quite fast, the Japanese, world n°4 managed to come back and secure its spot into the next round here in Paris. 11-21 21-14 21-16.

The 2018 French Open champions, HAN/ZHOU had quite a tough first round. They met the Germans LAMSFUSS/SEDEL, who reached the 3rd round at the previous world championships.

Despite some very precise shots, the Germans couldn’t make it in the first set. They managed to be much more offensive in the second and push their opponent into a decisive game. At the end, the lack of regularity cost them the match. The Chinese are into the next round of the French Open 2019. 21-17, 18-21, 21-16).
