China Open : amazing Carolina
Carolina's lesson
Almost unreal. 7 months after her knee injury last June, Carolina Marin gave a great lesson to everyone last week. It only to her 15 weeks to be back at the top of the world by winning the prestigious China Open - Super 100. Her phrase « Puedo Porque Pienso Que Puedo » became more than real. During the final, Tai Tzu Ying did try to stop the Spanish machine by winning the first set. But Carolina thirst of gold couldn't be stopped and she finally prevailed (14/21 21/17 21/18)
Momota again
Hard to see who could be the one to stop Kento Momota nowadays. The double world champion has his mind set to Tokyo 2020 and the Olympic Gold at home. Last week, Chen Long (semifinal) and Anthony Ginting (final) did try to push him to his limits, but the Japanese was again too strong. A victory 19/21 21/17 21/19 against Ginting and Kento Momota added another line to his prize list.
2 gold for China at home
This time, the Japanese didn't win the women's double title. Chinese's Chen/Jia prevailed on home soil against Matsutomo/Takahashi (21/14 21/18).
China won another title in mixed double thanks to world n°1 Zheng/HUang against their contrymen Wang/Huang (21/17 13/21 21/16).
Men's double was dominated by the Indonesians. Two Indonesian pairs facing each other in final and it is Gideon/SukamuljoGideon/Sukamuljo who won yesterday against Ahsan/Setiawan (21/18 17/21 21/15).
