FINALS - WS : Yamaguchi’s revenge

This match was a remake of last year’s final. Indeed, the two players already met each other last year but it turned out to be a completely different final. Last year, the Japanese lost in straight games (21-4 at the 1st game !). Today, she took her revenge.

In the final of the women’s singles draw today, both players gave an amazing but also very tight match, and Akane Yamaguchi came out as a winner.

Two different way of playing

Both players have two different way of playing. This is actually what makes each of their meeting an awesome match. The Japanese seemed to feel physically in shape even after a really long match in the semi-finals. She was really physically strong, while her opponent tried to use her technical shots to try and make the difference.

The Japanese took the 1st game 22-20 because of some mistakes from Tai Tzu Ying.

The player from Taipei managed to come back stronger in the 2nd game, winning it by 21-17. In the ultimate game, the Japanese continued her undermining and didn’t allow her opponent to develop her game. Akane Yamaguchi finally won the deciding game 21-13 and is the 2018 French Open champion. She had her revenge !
