Quarter Finals – MS : Gemke as a survivor

Today, we witnessed the Chinese power from Chen Long and Shi Yuqi, both qualified for the semi-finals here in Coubertin. Same goes for the Danish Rasmus Gemke who can clearly be seen as the European resistance. The world number 1 Kento Momota moves on and reaches the next round.

The world no 2 into semi finals

SHI Yuqi moves on. Today he faced the Korean SON Wan Ho. He was clearly leading at the beginning of the match : 11-2 at the break. The Chinese looked quite comfortable on the court. Without difficulties, he took the 1st game 21-11. His opponent had a quick reaction and the score was pretty close during the 2nd game. Rapidly, the Chinese found a way to prevail over his opponent and to emerge as the winner of this match. Final score: 21-11 21-13.

No worries for the Olympic champion

The other Chinese player in this draw is also here to win. Chen Long has reached the quarter finals without any problems. Today, he faced the Indonesian Jonatan Christie (ranked 14 in the world), and the Olympic champion seemed to be in a really good shape. Leading 11-4 at the break, Chen Long won the 1st game 21-18. The Indonesian played far better and managed to take the 2nd game from CHEN Long 21-12. For the ultimate, the Olympic champion raised his level of play and finally got his place for the semi finals, here in Paris. Final score : 21-18 12-21 21-16.

Gemke into his first Super 750 semi finals

The Danish (also the only European player still playing at this stage of the competition) made an amazing performance today. He beat Kataphon Wanqchareon from Thailand in a 3 games match. The crowd was cheering all along this incredible battle. The young Danish secured his qualification for his first super 750 semi-final : 12-21 21-11 21-17.

World no 1 didn’t shake

The amazing phenomenon from Japan Kento Momota has qualified himself for the semi-finals here in Paris. In the quarters, he faced the 2017 title holder, the Indian player Srikanth Kidambi. The world no 1 showed an incredible performance and qualified himself in the pain (particularly at the end of the second game) : 21-16 21-19.
