First round MxD : No solution for the french pair
The only French pair made their entrance by great acclamations. They were motivated to do their best in front of the French crowd. Despite that ranking gap between the two pairs, the Korean managed to impose their game at the very beginning. In 33min, they beat the French pair, which was of course very disappointed after the match, even if playing at home is always great. “We played well during the 1st set. But I cannot say what happened in the second game. I guess they were way stronger than us today”. Even if they had the public behind them, they couldn’t take advantage of it. They lost in straight games 21-15 21-7.
A 100 % danish match
The mixed double that everyone was waiting for took place at the very end of the day. It opposed the four danish players Joachim Fischer and Alexandra Boje to Christiansen and Pedersen. This 100% Danish match was also a confrontation between the former partners Fischer and Pedersen. The first set was won by Fischer and Boje 21-18. In the second set, Fischer lost his patience and the second set 14-21. Finally the last set was really tight and full of unbelievable rallies. The pair Christiansen/Pedersen saved 3 match points and won the last game 23-21. Incredible end of the day here in Coubertin.
