First round MD : Suspens... and a great show !

The men's doubles draw is mostly known throughout the world to be one of the most spectacular part of the badminton game. And the first day of the french competition confirmed that.

Talking about the Men’s double draw, everything went has planned.

The world no 2, the Chinese pair Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen won their first match in straight games against an Indian pair. The 2018 world champions are still on track to win a their first “Super 750” title in Paris.

It didn’t go as well for the English pair Marcus Ellis/Chris Langridge as they couldn’t make it to the second one. These who qualify themselves into the semi-final last week for Denmark Open didn’t manage play as well today in Paris They lost in straight games 21-16 21-13.

Russian are still in the game

The Russian pair Vladimir Ivanov/Ivan Sozonov faced the tough Japanese pair Takuto Inoue/Yuki Kaneto, world no 9. They lost the 1stgame in pain, 21-13. They had to react fast. They managed to come back and win the next two games, with a close score : 21-19 21-18. Very delighted to be here, they expressed their joy after winning such a important match. Once again, the crowd like to support outsiders.
